Coots & Pups Doubles Tournament

Coots & Pups is Ravalli Fun Center's annual doubles bowling tournament, pairing one bowler age 50 or over (the "Coot") with one bowler under 50 (the "Pup"). It's a fun cross-generational format where old-school savvy meets young-pup energy, and it's built to wrap up in about five or six hours so you can be home before dinner. Teams bowl a three-game qualifying round with combined team score each game, then get seeded by total pinfall plus handicap. The top half of the field advances to the Gold Bracket and the lower half to the Silver Bracket — so everyone bowls qualifying AND everyone gets bracket action. Bracket matches are one game, team total wins (or double elimination if the director opts for baker format). Handicap is 90% of 220 with no negative handicap; current league average is preferred, and the director will assign one if you don't have it. Entry is $60 per team with an optional $10 scratch side pot, plus $5 handicap brackets (normal, reverse, blind). Prize money pays the top three in each bracket, with Gold getting 75% and Silver getting 25% when entries allow. The field is capped at 24 teams, with the first 16 getting priority — pre-registration is strongly encouraged. This year's tournament doubles as a memorial event honoring Jim Steele (2026) and Wayne Weidow (2025), and it's also a Jr Gold fundraiser for Rylan, with a portion of funds, silent auction items, ball raffles, and more on tap throughout the day.
